The Value of Contribution
The value of contribution can’t be defined, yet many organizations inadvertently limit employees based on comfort zones, preferred styles or allegiance to past work. This type of thinking is what drives organizations into competency traps and leads to less innovation.
Regardless of how or where one works, all ideas should matter. If your organization has fallen into the fallacy of believing there is only one way to work, then the first step is to recognize this thinking and begin to assess how you can move beyond it. We encourage leaders to nurture a sense of community purpose and put that purpose at the heart of your company. Once this happens, the individual is removed and the organization can focus on the work of generating ideas that become central to addressing that purpose.
In shifting the perspective to purpose, each contribution can have the freedom to flourish and the environment will interact in a way that nourishes this freedom. The most value will come from seeing each contribution as another way to deliver solutions that customers will love.
